Formal Complaint on Consultation Conduct – Dr. P. P. Sathananthan (Cardiologist) Dear Sir/Madam, I write to formally raise a concern regarding the conduct of a recent consultation with Dr. P. Sathananthan at your institution. During the consultation, I was not afforded a reasonable opportunity to explain my symptoms. Attempts to elaborate were repeatedly interrupted, and responses were delivered in a manner that appeared dismissive. In particular, the repetition of my statements in a tone that conveyed ridicule was both unprofessional and discouraging. Such conduct is not merely a matter of patient comfort; it directly undermines the quality of clinical assessment. In cardiology, where accurate diagnosis depends significantly on patient history and where patients often present with heightened anxiety, dismissive or discouraging behaviour can impair communication, compromise patient confidence, and potentially affect clinical outcomes. I wish to emphasise that this concern is raised not as an isolated grievance, but in the interest of maintaining professional standards and patient-centered care within your institution. Behaviour that discourages patients from fully expressing their symptoms is inconsistent with the expected standards of medical professionalism. In light of the above, I respectfully request that this matter be reviewed appropriately, and that necessary steps be taken to ensure that consultations are conducted in a manner that upholds respect, attentiveness, and professional integrity.
